Three individuals linked to jihadist terrorism were arrested Monday, April 28, in the Catalan towns of Castelldefels (Baix Llobregat) and Montcada i Reixac (Vallès Occidental).

The individuals were found to be "fully aligned" with jihadist ideologies, including those of the terrorist organization Daesh.

The arrests were the result of a joint operation by the Mossos d'Esquadra (the Catalan police forces) and the Spanish national police.

They took place during a coordinated anti-terrorism operation.

The ongoing investigation is currently under judicial secrecy, overseen by Spain's national court, which has been supervising both the work of the Spanish and Catalan police.

The three detainees were transferred to Madrid, where they will appear before the duty judge of the special court responsible for handling terrorism-related offenses. They are currently placed in provisional detention.

According to investigators, the police uncovered a bayonet and materials referencing "lone wolf'" attacks and martyrdom during searches of their residenes. Police reports indicate that the detainees used various social media accounts to spread jihadist propaganda, glorify, and justify terrorist acts and attacks.
