3,500 protesters, according to the local Barcelona police, demonstrated in the streets of Barcelona on Saturday against the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Gathered protesters also wanted to show their support for the Palestinian people in the face of what they consider a "genocide."

Participants took to the streets with Palestinian flags and scarves and several posters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. 'Stop the genocide in Palestine' was the slogan of the march which has been held repeatedly since the start of Israel's military intervention in the Strip.

This time, according to the organizers, they wanted to ask for the freedom of the 11,000 prisoners captured by the Israeli army.

Alys Samson Estapé, a member of the Enough Complicity with Israel Coalition, also criticized that the Catalan, Spanish, and European institutions have not acted to stop the situation in Palestine and that, in addition, the state government is "contributing to finance this genocide" by buying Israeli weapons.

He demanded that the Spanish government end this arms trade and instead support the genocide claim that South Africa has presented to the International Court of Justice based in The Hague, the Netherlands.
