Striking Barcelona lifeguards vow to 'fight' until a 'fair' agreement is reached
No deal reached in mediation meeting, as strike reaches two-week point

Barcelona lifeguards say they are united and willing to "fight" until a "fair" agreement is reached. Until then, they vow not to end their strike, which has been ongoing since August 1.
In a statement, the CGT trade union regrets that "neither the management of BCasa nor the representatives of FCC," the company that provides the service, have had the capacity to resolve the crisis.
They also denounce a "lack of political will" and "institutional inaction."
They demand that a dialogue table be convened immediately and that those with decision-making capacity commit to a solution "that respects the dignity of the workers."

Mediation meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday both ended without any deal being reached. In a statement, the lifeguards say that neither their company, FCC, nor the Barcelona City Council, brought any "serious" proposal to the meeting.
On the other hand, municipal sources say that the council presented a proposal for an agreement that "significantly improved the proposal accepted by the Strike Committee last Wednesday" and later rejected by the assembly.
"We maintain our desire to reach an agreement as soon as possible and to continue with the mediation meetings," indicate the same sources.
