Shopping centre to remain closed after man dies from fallen concrete slab
Inspection on building being carried out while investigation underway

The Via Sabadell shopping centre will remain closed at least all day on Wednesday to inspect the external structure of the building, after a concrete slab fell from the facade and killed a man on Tuesday afternoon.
A slab measuring 70 square meters and weighing 10 tons fell on him from the main facade of the Galerías del Tresillo store.
The head of the Fire Department in the area, Jordi Massaguer, explained that the slab frll from a height of about 12 meters.
Technicians and staff of the shopping centre, including the manager Xavier Alemany, are checking the different stores in the three main buildings on Wednesday, where businesses such as Leroy Merlin, Mercadona, Galerías del Tresillo, and Mediamarkt are located.
Other businesses have opened their doors, such as Ikea or the Leroy Merlin warehouse dedicated to the construction sector as they are in separate buildings, as well as Viena, McDonald's, and Pans&Company.
The check should allow authorities to determine what caused the slab to fall.
The Via Sabadell shopping center opened in 2012.
