Sagrada Família unveils new image as 2025 marked 'year of consolidation'
Agreement on Glory Façade stairway and relocation of affected residents "near"

The Sagrada Família has presented its 2025 annual report alongside a new visual identity. General director, Xavier Martínez, described 2025 as " a year of consolidation and of facing the future, 2026, with optimism."
Basilica President Esteve Camps framed the report as an exercise in transparency and introduced the new logo, described as a natural evolution aligned with the basilica's current stage of construction.
The institution reported revenues of €134.5 million in 2025, with 96.9% coming from visitors. Total expenses were €113.5 million, mainly allocated to construction and technical management.
Visitor numbers remained stable, reaching 4.87 million, a slight increase of 0.91%. Americans remain the main nationality of visitors, representing 15.07% of the total, followed by Spain, China, Italy, and France, with a strong rise in Chinese visitors.
The Social Action Fund was also expanded, with €4.5 million allocated to various projects. "More than 639 projects were submitted, of which 286 were eligible," Martínez explained.
Last February, the Sagrada Família reached its final height of 172.5 meters as a cross was installed atop the Tower of Jesus. According to Camps, the exterior is now finished, and it is expected to be structurally completed around 2028 with the installation of a glass elevator.
Agreement over Glory façade ‘near’
Other works remain in progress, such as the Glory façade, which is set to become the basilica's main entrance. "Once the central towers of the Sagrada Família are completed, we will allocate all efforts to the construction of the Glory façade," Martínez said, adding that the goal is to complete it "within approximately 10 years."
The project, however, faces urban planning challenges. Antoni Gaudí's original design included a large monumental staircase extending beyond the current footprint of the basilica. Over time, residential buildings were constructed on that land.
Negotiations are now focused on how to build the staircase while relocating residents affected by the project.
Camps said negotiations with the Barcelona City Council are "well advanced" and close to an agreement, and officials welcomed the city's commitment that no resident will be left without housing within the district.
The timeline for the façade remains conditional on these agreements and on stable revenues.
Centenary and papal visit
2026 marks the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death. A major commemorative mass is planned for June 10.
Martínez confirmed that the Pope is expected to attend to inaugurate the Tower of Jesus. "His presence fills us with satisfaction, and we hope he can preside over the mass and bless the Tower of Jesus Christ," he said.
The basilica anticipates that major events could increase visitor numbers. If that happens, officials say they will study possible measures, including extending visiting hours.
