Barcelona always ends its local festivity, La Mercè, with a 30-minute firework display mixed with music. This year, the Sónar music festival will be in charge of playing the hits from Rosalía, Daft Punk, Bad Bunny, and Pet Shop Boys, among many others.

Over 50 songs will play, which have been part of the "developing of the electronic music," a statement reads, as these hits are from "local and international artists that have performed in the festival, which has been running since 1994."

This year's 'Piromusical' fireworks display will honor the Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away on March 28, 2023. Sakamoto played a key role in the soundtrack of director Alejandro G. Iñárritu's film, 'The Revenant.'

Other artists that will feature during the 30 minutes include C. Tangana, Lana del Rey, Chic, Grace Jones, Nathy Peluso, Bad Gyal, Desert, Maria Arnal, or The Chemical Brothers, Buraka Som Sistema, Omar Souleyman, and Aphex Twin.

Disco, house, and techno referents such as Todd Terje, Laurent Garnier, Miss Kittin, and Jeff Mills will also be played during the show.

The fireworks display will take place on Monday 25, at 10 pm, in the Montjuïc Magic fountains and will be visible from several places in Barcelona, including the Plaça Espanya square. The show will also be broadcast on Catalan public broadcaster TV3.
