'Record' 81k students assigned place in vocational training for next year

A total of 81,479 students have been assigned a vocational training place next year, 43,722 students assigned to a middle level and 37,757 to a higher level.

Catalonia's minister for Education and Vocational Training, Esther Niubó, highlighted in a press conference that this is a "record" figure, one that is up by 12,407 more places on the previous academic year.

According to the data from the pre-registration process, of the total of 96,319 applications that have participated, 81,479 currently have a place assigned, while 14,840 do not.

However, the education department has clarified that some of the students without a place are already registered to study Baccalaureate or are opting for other studies.

84,122 places are offered this year, both at the middle and higher levels, according to the department of education.
