At least 22 people have been arrested as part of a wide scale police operation on Tuesday against drug trafficking in Barcelona and Tarragona.

The Mossos d'Esquadra began their operation at around 6 in the morning against a criminal organization related to crimes of money laundering, drug trafficking, and possession of weapons.

Aroudn 500 police agents are carrying out around thirty raids in Barcelona, ​​its metropolitan area such as Sabadell and Sant Joan Despí, and Tarragona. There are also searches taking place in Castellón and Malaga.

Firearms, drugs and cash have been seized, and further arrests are not ruled out.

Police officers from various departments such as investigation, public order, the canine unit, and the drone unit, among others, are participating in the operation.

The investigation is led by the Central Unit for Money Laundering and Economic Crimes and has been carried out in coordination with Europol.

The case is under secrecy summary and is being heard by a court in Badalona.
