Number of patients recovering from coronavirus passes 100,000 mark in Spain

Discharged cases in Spain surpasses new cases confirmed, but deaths rise 331 in previous 24 hours

Over 100,000 people have now recovered from coronavirus, the Spanish health authorities reported on Monday, with the number of patients discharged exceeding the number of new confirmed cases for the fourth day in a row.

In all, some 100,875 people have recovered from Covid-19, with 2,144 patients discharged in the previous 24 hours, compared to 1,831 people testing positive for the disease in the same period, with 209,465 confirmed cases overall. 

However, the number of deaths due to coronavirus went up, with 331 fatalities in the previous 24 hours, taking the total number of people who have died from the disease in Spain to 23,521.

Although Madrid continues to top the ranking in total figures, with 59,421 confirmed cases and 7,986 deaths, Catalonia surpassed it in the number of new cases in the past 24 hours (944 compared to 295) and in deaths (133 of the 331 fatalities were in Catalonia).
