Around two hundred young activists gathered at Barcelona's Arc de Triomf to mark the global climate strike that is being held in 700 cities around the world on March 19.

Demanding an end to "empty promises," Fridays for Future campaigners describe the pandemic as "the symptom of a systemic crisis."

"This system leaves us without a future and makes our present precarious in the face of an unprecedented social and ecological crisis," their manifesto reads.

According to them, Covid-19 has exposed society's "cracks", including unsustainable pollution levels as well as youth unemployment, which is why they call for a new system that is not racist, imperialist, or patriarchal.
