Neighbors and police team up to star in a play to offer safety advice to the elderly
Vic group focus on crimes the elderly suffer most, treating them with humor
A group of locals in the central Catalan town of Vic are teaming up with police officers to star in a new play, all with the goal of teaching the elderly about safety and crimes they are most often targeted with.
The group focus on real situations to warn the group, with the aim of preventing common crimes.
'Safety on stage' is the name of the theatrical work, starring members of the Committee for the Elderly of Vic and agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra, which premieres on Thursday at the ETC space in the city.
Sergeant Lídia Barri explains to the media ahead of the curtain-raiser that simply by talking to the nursing home, safety advice "was hard to come by."
Inspired by a similar initiative in Lleida, they have opted for a "different" channel through which the elderly "have a good time" and remember the advice in an experiential way.
Barri pointed out that the play centers on crimes that the collective suffers the most, such as withdrawing money from the cashier or a false gas check.
