Spanish National Court judge Manuel García-Castellón has asked the National Police to provide information on the arrival of Russian spies in Catalonia between 2014 and 2019.

García-Castellón, leading the investigation into pro-independence grassroots protest organization Tsunami Democràtic has accepted a request from two National Police officers involved in the Tsunami case.

The request asked the police body to report on seven Russian spies who are said to be "experts in sabotage and assassination" who would have traveled to Barcelona.

The request was accompanied by a letter with a collection of various media reports with investigations into the alleged presence of members of the Russian military intelligence service in Catalonia during the peak of the independence push.
