MNAC proposes starting work to transfer secular Sixena paintings on November 17
Aragon had previously announced they would be transferred from October 19

Catalonia's National Art Museum (MNAC) submitted a proposed schedule and work plan to the government of Aragon for the transfer of the secular paintings of the Sixena set, with work slated to begin on November 17.
These are part of the set recovered from the Sixena Monastery during the civil war which were then brought to the MNAC for safe keeping and restoration. Judges have ordered the paintings to be returned to Aragon.
This latest proposal follows a letter sent on October 23 by the Aragon authorities to the director of the MNAC, Pepe Serra, requesting information on when the handover of the secular paintings would take place.
The works are currently exhibited in Room 17 of the MNAC museum.
Earlier in October, Aragon had announced that the transfer of the secular paintings would begin on October 19. However, MNAC sources stated that this schedule was “provisional” and based on an “outdated” approach.
At the beginning of October, Aragon set October 19 as the start date for the transfer of the secular paintings.
