Man shot dead in Barcelona's Eixample district
Catalan police launch investigation into fatal shooting inside building entrance on Consell de Cent Street

A man was shot dead on Tuesday at around 4.30pm inside the entranceway of a building at 200 Consell de Cent Street in Barcelona, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police).
The incident occurred between Carrer d'Urgell and Carrer de Villarroel, in the Eixample district.
Local police in Barcelona, the Guàrdia Urbana, and Catalan police, the Mossos d'Esquadra, attended the scene.
The Mossos' Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances and identify the attacker.

Police are searching for the suspect, or suspects, but have not activated the 'cage' operation which heightens security around the city's exit points.
The main theory points to the victim being shot dead, with the body left inside the building entrance.
Police are investigating whether the shots were fired inside the building or on the street outside.
