June sees new employment record with over 3.9 million workers
Unemployment at lowest level since 2008, with 315,000 registered as unemployed

Catalonia saw a new employment records set in June, with over 3.9 million people in jobs at the start of the summer season.
This number represents an increase of 0.62% compared to May's figures, with 24,177 more people in jobs. Compared to June last year, it's an increase of 1.9% (+72,745 workers).
Unemployment also fell for the fifth consecutive month, with a total of 315,084 workers registered as unemployed with social services, the lowest figure since June 2008.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, there are 4,435 fewer unemployed workers than there were in May (-1.39%), and 9,882 fewer than the same month in 2024 (-3.04%).
Across Spain, there has also been a new record high number of workers, with 21.86 million registered with Social Security.
Catalonia is once again the region with the highest number of registered workers in Spain, followed by Madrid with 3,801,539, and Andalusia with 3,509,152.
Catalan labor and business minister Miquel Sàmper welcomed the news, as it applies "to all sectors, all territories, all genders, and all ages," he said to journalists during a short statement in Parliament.
Sàmper said that the social security figures are "historic" and that "never before had there been that many people registered in the social security, therefore, this is the highest occupation of Catalonia's history," he added.
