House prices in Catalonia increase 6.7% in second quarter of 2024

House prices in Catalonia have increased by 6.7% during the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to data provided by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE). 

Compared to the first quarter of the year, that represents 1.1 points increase. 

By types of houses, the prices for new housing increased 9.5% between April and June this year, a four tenth increase compared to the previous quarter. That is the highest increase since 2016 on a second quarter basis.  

On the other hand, second-hand housing prices increased by 6.4%. That is 1.2 points higher than the first quarter of the year. 

In all of Spain, the annual variation of the housing price index increased 1.5 points up to 7.8%. 

All of the autonomous communities in Spain presented positive annual variations on the second quarter. 

The highest increase in housing prices was in Navarra, with a 10.3% increase; followed by Aragón, with 9.9%; and Andalusia that saw a 9.5% increase.
