Catalonia's train network experienced a difficult Monday morning as both high-speed and commuter services were affected by different malfunctions.

An issue in Barcelona's Arc de Triomf train station caused delays of over 20 minutes to Rodalies commuter trains lines R1, R3, and R4. The problem was first detected on Sunday night but mainly affected the morning rush hour.

In order to carry out emergency repairs, trains had to be diverted via Passeig de Gràcia for over an hour at around 12 noon, with services gradually returning to normal throughout the afternoon.

High-speed network

Meanwhile, in the central town of Les Borges Blanques, a problem at 8:10 am on Monday caused major issues to the high-speed network connecting Barcelona and other Catalan cities with Madrid and other parts of Spain.

The delay was solved by 9:30 am, but trains had been forced to stop for over an hour, affecting various high-speed train lines, such as AVE, AVLO, Ouigo, and Iryo.

A single line was in operation until 10.30 am between Les Borges Blanques and Lleida before full service was eventually resumed.
