Education authorities are weighing starting next three academic courses on September 8
Ministry shares first draft of calendar with education unions

The Catalan education ministry is considering starting the next three academic courses on September 8.
Students in preschool, primary school, secondary school, high school and professional formation will start a few days before the Catalan National Day, on September 11.
The education ministry is still working on a final date, but these are some of the first conclusions from the draft academic course calendar shared with education unions. For the first time, the draft considers the next three academic courses.
One of the most challenging parts of the deal, according to the unions, is that secondary school students are required to have two afternoons without any lectures. During those afternoons, however, the school is still required to offer open activities for its students.
The calendar also proposes ending the academic course on June 18, 2027, with the Christmas holidays from December 24, 2026, to January 10, 2027. Meanwhile, Easter Week will be from March 20, 2027, to March 29, 2027.
The ministry published the calendars for the next three academic courses with the goal of offering "the maximum anticipation and stability to the education community," a statement shared by authorities reads.
The 2027/28 and 2028/29 academic courses are scheduled to finish on June 22.
The 2025/26 academic course already started on September 8.
