Dozens of ships in 'largest humanitarian mission' will leave Barcelona for Gaza on August 31
Public figures such as activist Greta Thunberg will go on one of the boats

Dozens of ships will leave the port of Barcelona for Gaza on August 31 in the "largest humanitarian mission" organized since the blockade on the Strip.
Representatives of aid activist platform Global Sumud Flotilla 2025 announced the action last Friday.
The aid work will also see boats depart from other ports, such as Tunisia, on September 4.
The initiative will feature public figures such as artists and activists, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who will leave on one of the boats from Barcelona.
Moll de la Fusta will host various cultural, political and citizen mobilization activities in support of this action in the days prior to the departure, from August 29 to 31.
Saif Abukeshek, member of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2025 coordination group, reported that more than 28,000 people have registered to participate in the initiative, although hundreds will set sail from the organized fleet.
In a media briefing from Plaça del Rei in Barcelona, Abukeshek said the exact number will be specified later and that the details of the specific ports and ships have been withheld for security reasons.
All participants have undergone mandatory preparation to be selected.
Abukeshek explained that there will be a ship made up of only women and one made up of US army veterans, among others.
The organization estimates that the fleet will take between seven and eight days to reach Gaza.
