Spain's national court has ordered that the former FC Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, be compensated with €232,500 for being retained in preventive prison for 645 days.

Rosell had been in preventive prison between May 2017 and February 2019, accused of being part of a criminal organization and money laundering. He was facing charges for laundering commissions from the Brazilian selection, and a contract with a sporting company.

He was acquitted of all charges.

Rosell had requested €29.7 million for moral and economic damages due to his imprisonment and being forced to abandon his businesses. He also requested his legal fees and the financial cost his family had to face to visit him in prison.
