Catalonia registers one of rainiest Julys in 100 years
Clear difference with June as previous month recorded record high temperatures

July 2025 has been one of the wettest and rainiest Julys in the last 100 years, and easily comparable to July 1977, 1960, and 1943. Meanwhile, July 1932 remains the rainiest July recorded in Catalonia.
According to data released by the Catalan Meteorological Service on Friday, the total amount of rainfall during the month has been two, three, and even four times more than the average.
There has also been a clear difference in weather between June and July, and that has been the temperature. June saw record high temperatures, while the thermometer dropped across Catalonia during July. Central Catalonia and the pre-Pyrenees area have registered a very cold July, with figures similar to those from 2014.
Despite rainfall recorded during some days, the level of rain was enough to surpass the average in many sites. Experts state that although they recorded few rainy days, the impact was "extended across all the territory." Therefore, July has been a "stormy month" in Catalonia.
