The Catalan government has approved the Roadmap for the Circular Economy in Catalonia (FRECC) to accelerate the transition to a more circular and equitable economy that maximizes the value of resources by 2030.

The primary goal of the plan, developed by the government, experts and citizens, is to decouple economic growth from resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The circular economy is a production and consumption model that focuses on minimizing waste through practices such as sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling materials and products. This approach aims to extend the life cycle of products.

The roadmap will be implemented through two action plans: one for 2024-2026 and another for 2027-2029. The government recently approved the first, which includes 15 action lines and 80 measures to advance the strategic goals outlined in the document.
