Catalonia's high court (TSJC) has ruled in favor of allowing bars and restaurants to stay open past midnight in areas where restrictions had been put in place a week ago but nightclubs will have to remain closed.

After considering the Catalan government's arguments in favor of the measure, the court decided on Friday that nightclubs pose a greater risk in terms of Covid-19 transmissions but did not find any justifiable reason to keep business curfews for bars and restaurants in place.

Fecasarm nightlife business association lamented the court's decision to keep nightclubs closed and has asked the government to create a Civil Protection sectoral plan that would allow them to reopen as well as to provide them with economic compensation for their losses.
