Barcelona weather station records historic 52 nights of torrid summer nights
Statistics exceed 51 nights above 25 degrees felt in summer of 2003

The Can Bruixa weather station in Barcelona has recorded 52 torrid nights with minimum temperatures above 25°C this summer, with data updated until August 17.
This represents a record for this station in the historical series, which dates back 40 years.
According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat), the statistics for 2026 exceed the previous maximums of 51 torrid nights from the summer of 2003 and the 46 records from 2022.
The high temperatures contrast with the years 2000, 2007, and 2014, when the station did not record a single night above 25 degrees throughout the summer.
Since 2020, all summers, with the exception of 2021, have exceeded the threshold of 20 torrid nights in summer, levels that before this decade had only been exceeded twice, in 2003 and 2006.
Meteocat has been collecting data at the Can Bruixa station since 1987.
