Maintenance work on the Barcelona metro will result in temporary closures on two lines this summer.

Line 4 will be closed between Verdaguer and Trinitat Nova from June 25 to September 7.

During the same period, Line 11 will also be out of service between Trinitat Nova and Casa de l'Aigua.

These closures are due to the renovation of six kilometers of track aimed at reducing service disruptions and vibrations, as well as upgrading the signaling system.

As an alternative, the metro authority recommends using nearby lines such as Line 3 and Line 5, which offer similar routes.

In addition, a special replacement bus service will operate with stops at all affected metro stations and follow the same schedule as the metro.

The project is expected to cost €30 million. The service interruption is anticipated to impact approximately 60,000 commuters per weekday at the start of the works, and around 45,000 daily during August.

To assist passengers, the city council has deployed around 80 staff members across all stations to provide information and guidance.
