Barcelona issues fines to 129 bars and restaurants with terraces in city center
17 sites did not even have license to offer outdoor seating on street

The Barcelona city council has issues fines to 129 bars and restaurants with terraces in the Ciutat Vella neighborhood during the last weeks.
The Ciutat Vella encompasses most of the city's beaches, Parc de la Ciutadella, El Born, El Raval, and the Gothic Quarter.
Officials have listed 129 establishments, the ones with the most complaints. Out of these,17 did not even have a license to offer outdoor seating on the street.
One of the sites has even been sealed due to the norm. The city council has decided not to renew the terrace licenses of those bars and restaurants that have received several complaints.

The Ciutat Vella district has 1,357 bars and restaurants, 610 of which are licensed to offer outdoor seating.
Albert Batlle, city councilor for security, said that "the law is generally obeyed by restaurant and bar owners."
