Barcelona hits 37.6°C, the highest June temperature ever recorded
Previous record of 37.3°C was set in June 2019 at the city's Fabra Observatory

Barcelona reached 37.6°C on Monday, the highest temperature ever recorded in the city during the month of June.
The record was measured at the Fabra Observatory during a heatwave affecting the region and pushing temperatures well above seasonal norms.
In its 112 years of weather monitoring, this weather station, located in Collserola Park, had never recorded a higher temperature in June.
The previous record was 37.3°C, set in June 2019 — three-tenths of a degree lower than Monday’s reading.
However, the records may vary depending on whether they come from automatic readings, as in this case, or from manual observations, which later confirm the official record.
The city experienced an exceptionally hot day on Monday: at the Raval weather station, temperatures of 35.6°C were recorded, while in the Zona Universitària area, temperatures reached 37.3°C.
The hot temperatures followed another night of extreme heat, with thermometers remaining above what is considered a torrid night, staying above 25°C throughout the night.
This current heatwave comes after a very hot June. In fact, Barcelona's Fabra Observatory recorded temperatures of 35°C or higher a record five times this June, including Monday’s record.
This is the highest number of days surpassing that heat threshold for any June in the weather station's data.
The temperature was exceeded three times in June 2019 and twice in both 2022 and 2003.
Over the years, exceeding this threshold has been far more common between late July and mid-August.
