Barcelona Airport records most passengers for first half of year with 28 million travelers

Barcelona Airport saw a historic 28,371,615 passengers in the first half of 2026. 

The first six months of 2025 saw 4.4% fewer passengers.

Of the more than 28 million travelers, over 21 million of them flew internationally, with almost 7 million passengers on domestic flights. 

2026 had 5.3% more passengers on international flights from January to June than in 2025, and 1.7% more passengers on domestic flights. 

Each of the 6 months of 2026 to date have exceeded the number of passengers ever recorded for the month. 

January saw the fewest travelers with only 3.8 million. May saw the most with 5.5 million. 

Historically July and August see the most travelers, with 2025 recording 5.5 million people in July and 5.6 million in August.
