Average Barcelona sea temperatures reach 24°C for first time in month of June
Tarragona, Ebre Delta and Begur experience third warmest June sea temperatures since records began

The average sea temperature of 23.74°C off the coast of Barcelona has set a new record for the month of June.
Data from Spain's ports authority, Puertos del Estado, shows the Barcelona water temperature was higher than the previous record of 23.03°C, which was set last year.
Sunday, June 28 the sea temperature reached 28.2°C, a figure that hasn't been recorded during the month of June since at least 2004, when sea temperatures started being recorded.
The high sea temperatures in June follow the trend seen in May, when waters off Barcelona reached 24.2°C.
The waters off Tarragona measured an average of 24.34°C for June, the third highest temperature since the data has been available (2013).
The sea at the Ebre Delta saw similar temperatures: the June average at 23.93°C, again the third highest temperature on record. The two other recorded temperatures that exceed this year are less than one degree higher.
Begur only has five years of data to compare, but this June is in third place for the highest temperatures with an average of 21.89°C.
Mediterranean Sea temperatures off Catalonia have been rising. In the last decade temperatures averaged 21°C, while for this decade, the average has already risen to 22.4°C.
