UPDATE @ 8:30 pm - Australian rugby player Liam Hampson was found dead on Wednesday midday by Sala Apolo's staff.

Australian rugby player Liam Hampson went missing in Barcelona early on Tuesday morning as his friend, NRL player Alexander Brimson shared on social media and his club, The Redcliffe Dolphins, confirmed.

Hampson was travelling with a group who reported his disappearance in an Instagram post that was then shared by several Australian and New Zealand National Rugby League clubs.

The rugby player was last seen leaving the city's Sala Apolo nightclub, in the Poble-sec neighborhood, on Tuesday at around 4:30 am. He was wearing a white hat, matching shorts, and a dark-blue t-shirt.

The player had been traveling across Europe with Brimson and Brisbane Broncos rugby players Jordan Riki and Jesse Arthars.

“Hey guys, a bit of a long shot but hoping someone out there could have any information about Liam who has now been missing for 30 hours in Barcelona,” Alexander Brimson wrote in an Instagram post.

Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police did not confirm whether a missing person report had been filed.
