After years of works, Barcelona will inaugurate new La Rambla boulevard on February 13-14, 2027
Batlle affirms that the celebration, which will be directed by Lluís Danés, will take place because the works will be finished

Anybody who has visited the famous La Rambla boulevard in recent months will have seen it in a state of disruption, with plenty of remodelling works going on.
Now, the works have an end date, and Barcelona will inaugurate the new La Rambla with a public party on the weekend of February 13-14, 2027.
The celebration will have as its motto 'Ramble up, ramble down'.
The visual creator Lluís Danés will be the artistic director of the celebration, featuring a mix of disciplines with circus, music, dance, and poetry.
City deputy mayor Albert Batlle assured that works will be finished by that date.
Batlle celebrated that "the works are progressing at a good pace and the deadlines are being met," at a press conference on Tuesday morning.
He explained that the inauguration party will take place the weekend after the Santa Eulàlia celebrations (February 12), the feast day of one of Barcelona's two patron saints.
Batlle believes that setting a date is also a way of putting pressure on oneself. He rules out the possibility of any delay, though he admits that "this is a very historically rich city where every time you touch a stone, others come out."
Either way, the city councilor said there have been no surprises and that the works have been carried out within the established deadlines.
"When we announced that we were starting the works on La Rambla, we focused on these 50 months that will be completed in the month of February."
