Adif and Renfe unions call for joint strike on November 17
Proposal follows Toledo accident that left 69 people dead

The general committees of Adif and Renfe are proposing a joint strike across the public railway companies on November 17 to demand safety improvements to the rail system, the UGT union said.
The proposal follows the collision between two high-speed trains in Toledo last Wednesday, which left 69 people dead. The unions plan to formally file notice of the strike after the conflict resolution committee meetings scheduled for Thursday.
Meanwhile, as the investigation into the crash continues, the union Alferro said it filed a complaint with the Supreme Court Prosecutor's Office against Transport Minister Óscar Puente.
The complaint concerns the leak of audio recordings from the control center, which the media published the day of the accident. The audio reveals how one train was given clearance to move even though another train had stalled on the track.
In a post on X, the union demanded a "rigorous investigation" that avoids "pre-empting conclusions" that could cast blame on the workers.
