The highest temperature ever recorded in Barcelona in any month of August was seen on Saturday, with a high of 38.9°C recorded at the Fabra Observatory.

Sources from the observatory explained to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that the measurement was taken manually and that it represents the highest in the institution's historical series for an August in its 112-year history.

It is exceeded by the 40°C reached on July 30, 2024.
