18 more wild boars die from African swine fever in Cerdanyola outbreak, bringing total to 47
President Illa will chair the first meeting of the Wild Boar Board at government offices on Wednesday

The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, announced on Monday the death of 18 more wild boars due to African swine fever in the Cerdanyola outbreak.
The confirmation brings the total now to 47.
Speaking in Lleida, Ordeig detailed that these latest positives were found over the last 12 days and do not modify the established radii or the operation, made up of around 200 people.
According to authorities, these are animals that died after the detection of the first positive cases in the area.
The minister announced that the first meeting of the Wild Boar Board will be held this Wednesday. Its primary objective will be to define the strategy to contain the boar population in the country.
The meeting will be held at the Catalan government headquarters building and will be chaired by the president, Salvador Illa.
The majority of the 621 wild boars analyzed come from a radius of 20 kilometers from the Cerdanyola outbreak. The latest figures bring the positive rate to 8% of the total animals tested.
Ordeig said that, so far, the objectives of containing the outbreak in the first 6-kilometer radius have been met, as have the tasks of ruling out positive cases in the 55 farms within the outbreak zone and continuing to make progress in finding the origin of the virus.
