The Catalan police, Mossos d'Esquadra, made 17,119 arrests across the country between January and June, according to a parliamentary response to the far-right Vox party.

Agents reported that 504 of the people taken into custody had no ID. Concerning the rest, 5,917 were identified with a Spanish ID (DNI), while 4,776 had NIE (the Spanish ID for foreign nationals, and 2,668, passport.

The trend seems to be indicating an increase in the number of arrests in 2025, since the people taken into custody for the whole of 2024 was 29,619. 921 of them had no ID when stopped by agents, while 12,088 showed their DNI, 8,290 identified themselves with NIE and 4,420, with passport.

Between January and June, the Mossos d'Esquadra seized 580 firearms –283 handguns and 297 long guns– and 4,715 bladed weapons during the first half of the year. Most of them were pocket knives (3,401) or knives (1,036).

These figures are similar to that of last year, since in the whole of 2024, a total of 1,191 firearms were confiscated, including 469 handguns and 722 long guns. The number of bladed weapons seized last year rose to 9,220, of which 6,827 were pocket knives and 1,892 were knives.
