Supreme Court applies amnesty to Clara Ponsatí for disobedience charge
Move ends former minister’s criminal liability, with her case fully closed

The Supreme Court has applied the amnesty to former Minister of Education Clara Ponsatí.
In a court order, the high court ended Ponsatí’s criminal liability for the charge of disobedience in the context of the Catalan independence push, and ordered the permanent closure of her case.
Following the Constitutional Court’s October ruling that the amnesty was compliant with the constitution, the Supreme Court applied the amnesty to the pro-independence politician.
The high court states that, according to the Constitutional Court’s doctrine, “the objective scope for the application of the amnesty is met” and that “none of the exclusion criteria” set out in the law apply.
The Supreme Court’s decision comes two weeks after it applied the amnesty to former Vice President Oriol Junqueras and former ministers Jordi Turull, Dolors Bassa, and Raül Romeva.
Former president Carles Puigdemont, former and former ministers Toni Comín and Lluís Puig are still awaiting the definitive application of the amnesty, but their arrest warrants have been dropped already.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court judge overseeing their case, Pablo Llarena, ordered that the criminal proceedings against them be set aside and referred the matter to the Criminal Chamber, which is responsible for the final dismissal of the case.
