Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will convene the XXVIII Conference of Presidents on June 6 at the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona.

On Thursday, the Spanish government will inform the regional executives of the main details of the meeting, and in the coming days the full agenda will be established.

Sources from the Spanish government pointed out that the meeting should not serve to address the Catalonia's new fiscal model, and issue which loomed over the previous meeting.

In Barcelona, sources maintain, "the People's Party can ask and incorporate economic issues, but the Conference of Presidents is not a Fiscal and Financial Policy Council."

During the last meeting, the Spanish government and the regional governments addressed issues such as migration, healthcare, regional financing, and housing, but no specific agreements were reached.

The government proposed reforms to promote public housing and informed the regions of the convening of the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council ahead of a regional debt forgiveness scheme.

Catalonia's new fiscal model, promised as part of political deals but yet to be implemented, was a source of tension at the last meeting. Another source of friction was the disagreements over the modification of the immigration law to resolve the situation of unaccompanied minors who are still in the Canary Islands.
