Girona Health Campus to receive €700M investment and be ready by 2031
President Illa says there is "no way back" for the project, which has "viable and concrete" deadlines

The Catalan government has signed a new agreement with the mayors of Girona and Salt, as well as the University of Girona (UdG), to renew the Hospital Josep Trueta and the Health Campus of the educational institution.
The Health Campus will receive investment of €700 million, will occupy a space of up to 190,000m², and will be a reality by the end of 2031.
The new protocol renews and updates what was signed five years ago and underlines the executive's commitment to the project.
President Salvador Illa, who chaired the presentation act, stated that there is "no way back" for the new project of the updated Health Campus, and that the protocol establishes "the work plan, the calendar and the investment" so that the complex becomes a reality "within a viable and defined period."
The mixed monitoring commission also met for the first time on Wednesday. "Collaboration between institutions yields more fruit than confrontation," Illa added.
The new protocol defines the work plan, the calendar, and the investment for the health complex, which will combine healthcare activity with research, innovation and teaching.
In total, the future Health Campus will have a built area of more than 316,000m².
