Exit poll forecasts narrow victory for mayor Colau over Socialists and Trias in Barcelona

Exit polls published by the Catalan public broadcaster TV3 predict that incumbent mayor Ada Colau will win the 2023 local election in Barcelona. 

Her party, Barcelona En Comú, is forecast to win 10 council seats, the same results earned in 2019, narrowly beating the Socialist candidate, Jaume Collboni, who is forecast to win 9-10 seats, up from 8 won in the last election. 

Just behind the leading pair would be Xavier Trias, picking up 8-9 seats, while Junts per Catalunya won only 5 during the last election.

Ernest Maragall of ERC is expected to win 6 seats, down from 10 in the last election when he won the vote.

Unionist Ciudadanos are forecast to lose all 6 seats they held in the council, while the People's party will double their tally from 2 to 4, and the far-right Vox will enter the council for the first time, winning 3 councilors.  

Socialists to win in Tarragona and Lleida

The Socialist party will win the local elections in the cities of Lleida and Tarragona, according to the exit poll published by Catalan public broadcaster TV3. In Lleida, PSC are projected to win 8 seats (up from 7), and 10 in Tarragona, up from 7.

Pro-independence Esquerra Republicana are expected to be the second most-voted party in both cities, getting 6 representatives in each city, both down from the 7 seats they won in 2019.

It's expected that unionist Ciudadanos will not get any representation in either city, losing 3 in Lleida and 4 in Tarragona, while far-right Vox are expected to enter both councils, with 2 seats in Lleida and 3 in Tarragona.

Junts to win in Girona closely followed by PSC

Junts' candidate in Girona, Gemma Geis, is expected to win the mayorship in Girona., according to the same exit poll. 

PSC’s candidate, Sílvia Paneque, would follow Geis closely with 8 council seats; wining two more than in the 2019 election.

According to the poll, both ERC and Guanyem Girona would win 4 seats each, the same as in 2019, while PP would get 2 council seats.

Second poll also predicts Colau's victory 

Another exit poll, published by Barcelona’s local TV and El Periódico newspaper, also predicts an Ada Colau victory, with 22.5% of votes, a 2-point increase on the previous election, and between 10 and 11 seats.

According to the same poll, former mayor and Junts candidate Xavier Trias would come in second position with 20.8% of votes and 9 to 10 seats, followed by the Socialist Jaume Collboni with 19.9% of votes and 9 to 10 seats.

ERC’s Ernest Maragall would only get 14.5% of votes and 6 to 7 seats. Both the conservative People’s Party and far-right Vox are expected to get 2-3 seats.
