National Pact for the Referendum member Francesc de Dalmases and Elena Jiménez, coordinator of the ‘Let Catalans Vote’ project, explained in Brussels that the independence referendum is not only a Catalan issue, but also “a European challenge”. De Dalmases and Jiménez held a meeting in Brussels with think tanks, States representatives and journalists in order to share “the National Pact for the Referendum experience” and to explain that Catalans will vote in the October 1 independence referendum because “Catalan society wants to vote.”

“The great majority of Catalan society has decided that this issue must be settled by voting,” insisted the Pact member. “We have also denounced the fact that the Spanish government denies us policy instruments to settle this issue. Their only response is to deny reality, to judge and prosecute Catalan politicians for doing their work,” he added.
