Catalan president meets King Charles III in London
Salvador Illa and the monarch exchanged views on climate change at a Circular Bioeconomy Alliance event

Catalan president Salvador Illa met King Charles III in London on Wednesday during an event hosted by the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance at St. James's Palace.
The gathering, titled "A Nature-First Economy: Towards a Healthy Society on a Thriving Planet," focused on the global fight against climate change and the shift toward more sustainable ways of living and producing.
According to government sources, Illa expressed to the monarch his firm commitment to tackling climate change, advancing the ecological transition, and protecting biodiversity.
The president shared details about Catalonia's efforts to boost renewable energy, promote sustainable mobility, and reduce waste.
The two also exchanged views on forest management, discussing how better prevention and planning can help reduce the impact of wildfires and strengthen the resilience of natural landscapes.
During the event, Illa signed an agreement with the organizing body to collaborate on climate action and the economic transformation toward a sustainable model.
The Catalan government is now exploring the possibility of hosting a Circular Bioeconomy Alliance headquarters in Catalonia, with Cap Roig, on the Costa Brava, being considered as a potential location.
