Catalan post-election parliament to be formed on June 10
First presidency investiture bid by June 25, new election called if no president by August 25
Catalan acting president Pere Aragonès has set June 10 as the date for the session to form the new Catalan parliament following the May 12 election.
The deadline for calling a vote on a presidency investiture bid will be June 25, with the vote to be held within the next 10 days.
The presidential candidate will need a minimum of 68 votes in the first round of voting (absolute majority) and more votes in favor than against in the second round (simple majority).
If no president is elected by August 25, a new election would be triggered to take place in October.
Catalan election results
The May 12 vote saw the Socialists win more seats and more votes than any other party, but they are still far from a majority in the parliament.
Salvador Illa, candidate for the Socialist Party, announced he would put himself forward for the presidential investiture debate, as a left-wing tripartite between the Socialists, Comuns Sumar, and pro-independence Esquerra is possible.
Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, candidate for Junts+, came second in the running, with the pro-independence bloc together also falling short of a majority in the chamber for the first time in years.
Puigdemont has also said he believes there are "options" to put himself forward in the investiture debate.
