Catalan government calls for de-escalation in Venezuela
Minister demands solutions "in accordance with international law" and urges "prudence and calm"

Catalonia's presidency minister, Albert Dalmau, has called for de-escalation in Venezuela after the United States attacked the country on Saturday morning.
In a media briefing from Olot, the minister called for "prudence and calm" to prevent the situation from leading into "a civil conflict."
Dalmau stated that Venezuela "deserves a better future, in peace, freedom and democracy," but pointed out that "solutions must always be in accordance with international law and the United Nations."
Catalonia's Minister for Foreign Action, Jaume Duch, has contacted the Casal Català in Venezuela to ensure that the Catalan community in the country is healthy and safe. This is the main concern for the Catalan authorities and said that they will work with the Spanish government to guarantee safety.
Several explosions were recorded in Caracas on Saturday morning in an attack that, hours later, Donald Trump claimed responsibility for.
In addition, the US president said that US forces captured the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife and deputy, Cilia Flores.
