Reïna’s pop sounds have won this year’s Sona9 music competition, with feminist punk rockers Les Buch coming second, and singer-songwriter Lles finishing third.

Sona9 is one of the most significant competitions for young emerging artists and has given platforms to various bands who have gone on to find commercial success such as Manel, Els Amics de les Arts, and La Iaia.

Mallorcan pop quartet Reïna made the judges fall in love with their sounds in the final held on Wednesday evening in Mirona de Salt, Girona.

Due to the pandemic, the finals of the contest was held without an audience and was broadcast online through the websites of organizers Enderrock and Sona9.

A total of 139 artists and groups took part in the 2020 edition of Sona9 - the most of the last five editions. As winners, Reïna will record an album and go on a tour, performing concerts throughout Catalonia.

The band are formed by four students from Manacor, Mallorca, who study in Barcelona. The soft melodies with lyrics of both universal and everyday themes have earned them the glory.
