The United States Consulate General has their own stand for the first time at the Saló de l’Ensenyament education fair in Barcelona.

The consulate has joined forces with EducationUSA, an international student advisory center in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona, one of 430 such offices across the world.

The aim of the collaboration is to share information with prospective students about undergraduate and postgraduate studies at American universities and community colleges.

The stand will include a ‘student corner’, in which visitors can ask American and Spanish students about their experiences across the pond.

Visitors can also get a taste of student life in America through a VR headset, which transports users to a US college campus, allowing them to witness it as if they were really there.

The stand will also offer more practical assistance for those interested in studying in the States, such as guidance on the education system, the admissions process, key deadlines, funding, and general academic advice.

EducationUSA will also provide information on the Competitive College Club, a programme offering help with their US institution applications to secondary school students.

The United States Consul General in Barcelona, Katie Stana, said that “studying in the USA is a life-changing experience” and that the American higher education system is “flexible and adapts to students, in order to bring the best out of everyone and maximize their potential.”

The event sees a diverse range of education initiatives offer information to students, parents and professionals alike on subjects such as university education, professional training, language studies, high school, arts schooling, and more.

It is set to last from March 16 to March 20 and will take place at the Fira Montjuïc exhibition centre in Barcelona.

Tickets range between €5.50 and €6.50, and correspond not only to the day of attendance, but also windows during said day: 9am-12pm and 12:30pm to 7pm.
