Symphony orchestra to bring One Piece anime soundtrack to life in Barcelona
Palau de la Música Catalana will host immersive musical experience for fans of the well-known series

Fans of the popular anime One Piece can experience the soundtrack live next February, when Vallès Symphony Orchestra will perform the music from the series at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
The concert, organized in collaboration with anime and manga convention Manga Barcelona, will take place at the Palau on February 9 and 10, 2026. This will be the first time in Spain that an orchestra performs a live accompaniment to the series, which has gained millions of fans worldwide since its premiere in 1999.
Meritxell Puig, director of Manga Barcelona, told Catalan News that the anime community in Barcelona is growing and becoming more popular with young people, especially due to the popularity of the series Dragon Ball and the Catalan television channel TV3.
Adapted from the manga series by artist Eiichiro Oda, One Piece follows the adventures of the young pirate Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hats, in their search for the treasure One Piece.
"After more than 25 years, there are still a lot of new readers who follow the series but at the same time new ones who start it," Puig said.
One Piece composer Kohei Tanaka has prepared special arrangements for the Barcelona peformance, which will include the show's new opening theme and other pieces from the soundtrack. Videos will be synchronized with the live soundtrack on an HD screen. At Friday’s press event, organizers also noted that discussions are underway about the possibility of bringing the vocalists behind parts of the soundtrack to Barcelona.
The performances are part of Vallès Symphony Orchestra's regular season at the Palau, which has run for 30 years on the venue's modernist stage.
"Classical music has to be introduced to young people, and what better way to introduce it than through One Piece," Puig said.
