The Catalan photographer, Jordi Bernadó, gathered over 2,000 Barcelona residents in the city’s Liceu opera house on Sunday morning to take a picture of them. The photograph is part of the artistic activity ‘Me we’, to show the city’s essence through photos.

The only common link between the people seated in the opera house was their city of origin, as they are completely different from one another. For one year, Bernardó has been socially researching the city so the picture would be a human map. This way, viewers will be able to see diversity in gender, ideologies, ages, sexualities, origins, and nationalities among Barcelona citizens.

The photo will raise awareness about an "inclusive, fair, and creative" society while being a diverse community.

The picture wants to be "an infinite mosaic full of stories and different faces," Bernardó shared before taking the photo. It is thought of as an "ode to the city, a claim during times of uncertainty, and reaffirming that we are all one, and Barcelona is all of us," he added.

"‘Me We’ is a symbol of coexistence, of the associative and human richness of Barcelona, and the compromise we all residing here have with the city," the photographer concluded.

Seated in the Liceu opera house there were over 2,000 people from different backgrounds. Among them, are the oldest person in the Catalan capital (105 years) and a four-months newborn. In total, there were 58 different nationalities and 25 languages spoken.
