This year’s Fiesta del Cine is due to take place from May 3 to 5 with cinema tickets cut to just €3.50.

The 18th edition of the festival is also the first one back after two consecutive years of having to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organized by the Federation of Cinema Film Distributors (FEDICINE), the Federation of Cinemas of Spain (FECE), and the Institute of Cinematography and of the Audiovisual Arts, the event hopes to show its appreciation for the Industry to all viewers who enjoy the magic of movies on the big screen and encourage attendance at movie theaters as a social and cultural activity.

The Fiesta del Cine website even includes a list of its recommendations for cinema-goers to go see, a list which includes Carla Simón’s award-winning ‘Alcarràs’ about rural life in western Catalonia, which is out in cinemas as of Friday.

Amongst the other recommended films there is Michael Bay’s ‘Ambulance’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and the most recent Oscar winner for Best Picture, CODA.

Via the website, film-lovers can also sign up for certification allowing them to see all these films at cinemas across Spain, including around 60 in Catalonia, although those below the age of 14 and older than 60 do not need to sign up to participate.

Tickets will be available for purchase online from May 2nd.
