080 Barcelona Fashion and Rec.0 open call for emerging fashion proposals
Contest aims to promote creative talent in the Catalan fashion industry

080 Barcelona, a Catalan government-run campaign that promotes the fashion sector in Catalonia, and pop-up festival Rec.0 have opened their 13th annual fashion innovation contest.
Proposals from Catalonia's clothing designers and brands will be evaluated based on aspects such as sustainability, social responsibility, size diversity, and commercialization potential.
The contest will be juried by Marta Coca, director of 080 Barcelona Fashion; fashion journalist Zoel Hernández, Marina Iglesias, co-founder of Recstores; Anna Porta, designer of the Sita Murt brand; and Eñaut Barruetabeña, designer and coordinator of the fashion design master's degree at IED.
The call for entries opened on Tuesday and ends on October 17. The winner will be announced at an event on Oct. 23.
The designer of the winning proposal will receive a promotion space at 080 Barcelona Fashion's store at the next Rec.0 festival, which will be held November 5-8 in the Catalan city of Igualada.
Rec.0 holds food, culture, and fashion festivals twice a year in Igualada, bringing 100,000 visitors to the city with a population of only around 40,000.
Also approaching in the Catalan fashion world is the bi-annual 080 Barcelona Fashion Week event from October 14-17, which will feature 25 shows held in the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau.
