Barcelona (ACN).- The Tàrrega Theatre Fair is warming up for a week of spectacular performances. Between the 9th and the 12th of September, the town will unveil a programme with almost 90 companies, 700 professionals in attendance and a budget of 1.4 million euros. Despite the economic crisis, the fair will be functioning normally. Organisers are pleased to be able to offer top quality performances both indoors and outdoors.

The 30th edition of the Tàrrega Theatre Fair will begin next week with the objective of opening door for stage arts on both a Catalan and international level. Between the 9th and 12th of September, the town will convert itself into a grand theatre production, where stages will emerge in the most unlikely of places.

Ireland, the guest of honour

The 30th edition of the festival invites Ireland as the guest of honour, a display of the relationships and professional exchanges that are being made with the country. For a few years now the festival has been collaborating with governments from various other countries to share knowledge about new creations. This year, attendees will be able to see three different performances that give a general idea of Ireland’s street theatre scene. The group Dance Theatre of Ireland along with Fidget Feet will perform ‘Hang On’, ‘Tumble Circus’ and ‘Up Above’ as part of their ‘Block Party’ tour, a spectacle that has been considered one of the best in the last 10 years.

Street performances

Among the large variety of street performances that will take place on in Tàrrega, Jordi Colominas, artistic director of the festival, highlights performances such as ‘Habitaculum’ from Barcelona’s Kamchatka Theatre Company, which will take place in the antique Trepat factory, ‘Broeders’ from the Dutch company that will use a roundabout as a stage, and ‘Exercis d’amor’ from the Valencian company El Pont Flotant that will be presented in a shop window. ‘El clown de Leandre’, ‘Éxodo’, ‘d’En La Lona’ and ‘Rodafonio’ can also be seen on the streets of Tàrrega’s city centre.
